Klondike Solitaire is a game played with a standard 52 card deck
The game is comprised of these major areas, the stock, the waste, the foundations and the tableau.
The stock is typically located to the top left of one pile of remaining cards, after the cards are dealt to the tableau.
The waste is right next to the stock.
The foundations are a group of four sections of cards typically on the right and are initially empty.
The tableau is made up of 7 columns from left to right. The first column has one face up card and each succeeding column contains one more card than the previous one, with each column having a face up card. The last column will have 7 cards with one face up of course.
The objective of the game is to place all the cards onto the foundations from mainly the tableau and the waste pile areas
In Solitaire (Klondike), Ace is the lowest card with the remaining ranks of King, Queen, Jack down to the Ace is the ranking of the cards.
Each foundation stack is made up of entirely one suit each. Cards are placed from Ace up to King in a given suit for a foundation stack.
As stated it is mostly from the tableau that foundation area is populated and there are rules to how to order cards in the tableau.
Since most of cards in the tableau are faced down you must place cards from tableau onto one another to uncover the face down cards.
A face up card can only be placed onto a card in another column if it is of lower rank and alternate color.
For example, a 6 clubs can be placed onto 7 of daimonds or the Queen of Hearts can be placed on a King of Spades. However, a 5 of hearts cannot be placed on a 4 of clubs or a 8 spades cannot be placed on a 9 of clubs.
Only face up cards can be moved in the tableau area.
Only Kings or sequences starting with Kings can be moved to an empty column from another column.
Aces are moved or should be moved immediately to a foundation stack. From there 2,3,4 and higher ranking cards can be placed in sequence onto the appropriate foundation stack.
If you cannot move or place a cards within the tableau a card will be drawn from the stock and placed on the waste pile to select from. This card can go immediately to the foundation or placed in the tableau or another card can be selected from the stock pile onto the waste if neither of other choices are possible with the current card.
A whole sequence of cards can be moved from one column to another as long as the head card follows the lower ranking and other color rule.
If there is an empty column any card from the waste pile may be placed onto an empty column.
If cards from the stock pile are exhausted then cards from the waste pile are recylced back on to the stock pile face down.
